In 2021, we highlighted the relationship between power, people and the planet. With the start of the new year, we looked into solutions that connect these elements through a green pathway. In this context, we initiated our campaign - #GreenTheGap, to address the gaps that exist in providing universal access to clean and reliable energy. Building on the vision of the recently inaugurated Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, Smart Power India is focused on addressing three key challenges: providing reliable last-mile electricity access, facilitating inclusive economic development, and supporting the transition from conventional sources of energy to clean and renewable sources.

To contribute towards the clean energy transition in rural India, SPI recently launched the Rooftop Solar programme for commercial and institutional customers that encourages entrepreneurs in rural India to make the switch to green energy, thereby, leading to greater efficiency, increased incomes, and improved well-being. SPI is also working to electrify all the villages in the northeastern state of Nagaland within this decade and spur socio-economic development in the region in partnership with Mithun Rural Development Foundation and the government of Nagaland.

To further the cause of gender equality and bring awareness to challenges and opportunities for rural women, we marked Women’s History month by exploring conversations on how reliable energy access could lead to more gender-equal outcomes with insights from sector influencers.

We hope you enjoy this new edition of Power Up! - highlights from the last quarter.
A lookback at 2021
#GreenTheGap signifies catalysing sustainable economic growth with greater adoption of #GreenEnergy and providing reliable #EnergyAccess at the last mile without compromising on our #ClimateGoals. Micro-entrepreneurs empowered with reliable energy from Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) systems like mini-grids and rooftop solar are capable of driving socio-economic growth in rural India.

The various 'gaps' in energy access, economic development, and the use of conventional sources of energy that have been uncovered can be filled by a green pathway and a shift towards reliable and clean energy.  At Smart Power India, we have been consistently working to minimise this gap.
Let's #GreenTheGap
